Texas Mile Recap. ART Viper fastest car of the weekend! New Viper Record!

This weekend at the Texas Mile was insane! The amount of cars runnning big number seemed very small in comparison to last year. None the less the ART Viper put down the fastest Mph for a car over the three day weekend.
ART Viper 240.9 mph

Saturday morning, the ART crew was up bright and early preparing the car. About 7-8 cars made it down the track before the Hinson Corvette crashed and took out the the Timing System. Fortunately the driver was ok and the racing resumed about 2 hours later. About 11:30 the Viper made its first pass at 239 mph for the day.

A quick pull of the logs and Shane T says the boost didn't raise as expected. Fortunatly we did an little testing on the dyno a few days prior and found that the fresh air intake tubing could be removed with no raise in engine intake temps. Removing the Tubing before the turbo proved we could also run much higher boost levels.

The Last pass of the day the car went an astonishing 240.9 mph. Unfortunately the boost cut was set at 28 psi and the car violently shook in 5th gear trying

There were a ton of cool supercars at this years event, although not as many big hitters. The red Porsche was my next favorite next to the ART viper ;)

it would have been cool to see the cars run back to back of each other. Maybe next time someone can cordinate some of the fast cars to run together.

Texas Mile day one recap. ART.

Day one is wrapped up at the mile.   The ART "ballista" Viper posted the fastest time of the day.  With a new driver behind the wheel, the Viper made three passes today.

ART Ballista Dodge Viper Twin Turbo

The first pass was an awesome shakedown run putting up 225 mph.  The second pass didnt go so well as the gps sensor in the car quit working as soon as the car left the line.   A quick fix, and we were back in line for a third pass.

With the gps sensor taped to the outside if the car, the 3rd pass put us at 228mph.   The driver missed 4th gear , recovered and mashed back on the gas pedal. The Viper still
